A
Hamilton man's plan to dispose of what was believed to be
methamphetamine came unstuck after he blocked the toilet while trying to
flush a pair of electronic scales.
Police
arrested the 32-year-old man at a Fairfield house and have charged him
with possession of methamphetamine for supply and breaching bail.
He is appearing in the Hamilton District Court today.
Police say armed officers
were quick enough to stop the man flushing a "large quantity" of
methamphetamine down the toilet when they executed a search warrant
yesterday.
Hamilton City Tactical Coordinator,
Senior Sergeant Freda Grace, says along with the drugs, a "sizeable
amount of cash" was also seized from the property.
"Yesterday's
results highlight the need for Police and the public to be vigilant and
work together to combat the threat posed by drugs to our community."
Anyone with information or concerns about people with drugs can contact police on 07 858 6200 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
