A Blenheim man who believes Olivia Hope is still alive has been remanded on bail without plea on a charge of criminal harassment.
Simon Hugh Bell, 53, was remanded to apply for legal aid when he appeared in the Blenheim District Court yesterday. He will appear again on January 17.
The police believe Bell delivered fliers to letterboxes in Blenheim showing a photo of a woman he claims is Olivia Hope.
Miss Hope, 17, and Ben Smart, 21, went missing in the Marlborough Sounds on January 1, 1998.
Scott Watson, of Picton, was found guilty of murdering the pair, although their bodies have never been found.
