Police dogs graduate from training

The New Zealand Police honoured their newest furred recruits at a graduation ceremony today.
Four police dogs graduated from the Dog Training Centre in Upper Hutt and will soon be working the beat around the country with their human handlers.
The training process for patrol dogs involves three stages which includes intensive courses at eight months, 13-months and 17-months of age.
Dogs work on the frontline with their handler until their retirement which is normally when they’re eight-years-old
