A Blenheim teenager caught wearing a woman's bathrobe and underwear by police dogs after running through people's gardens and falling in a swimming pool has been ordered to do community work.
Vaea Samasoni, 18, a student, was sentenced to 160 hours' community work for unlawfully being in an enclosed yard and an unrelated burglary.
In a previous court appearance, police prosecutor Sergeant Steve Frost said Samasoni was seen by a member of the public on the roof of a Burden St home about 2am on January 11. The police were called and Samasoni ran off, with the occupant of the house chasing him.
He ran through several properties in Gill Cres, fell into a swimming pool and took a woman's bathrobe to keep warm. Samasoni was eventually caught by police dogs wearing the robe and a pair of women's panties.
Judge Bruce Davidson said the sentence took into account Samasoni's time spent in custody since being caught on January 11.
