A police search on the office of assignment4u netted a significant number of files
Criminal charges
could be laid against a company alleged to have supplied essays to
university students, the lawyer for the New Zealand Qualifications
Authority says.
At the High Court in Auckland
today NZQA lawyer Anna Longdill said police executed a search warrant on
the company's Cook St premises on Friday. She said the search netted
several computers and "literally a room full of files".
The assignment4u.com site was still running on Friday but was taken down yesterday, she said.
Ms
Longdill said it was likely criminal charges could also be laid along
with the civil charges. Criminal charges could have a bearing on how the
civil case proceeds, she said
Lawyers for the
company asked for an adjournment until September to go through the
significant amount of material seized by police.
NZQA had earlier been seeking an interim injunction against the company to shut down the site.
