Second staffer resigns over Novopay

The Education Ministry has not named the staff member who has resigned

A second senior staff member involved with Novopay has handed in their resignation.
Acting Education Secretary Peter Hughes confirmed the resignation today. He says it was tendered before the release of the inquiry report into the beleaguered pay system.
The ministry has not named the staff member.
"These staff members made their own decisions and I have great respect for how they have acted," Mr Hughes says.
"I received an offer of resignation before the release of the inquiry report, but it was appropriate to wait until we could properly consider the findings."
Mr Hughes says the staff member made "considerable contributions" during their time at the ministry.
Earlier this week the Ministry of Education's deputy secretary Anne Jackson resigned, admitting "shortcomings" in her involvement with payroll system Novopay.
